Deirdre Ireland (Duncan 1946) From her daughter Fiona Round: It is regret that I have to inform you that my mother passed away in July 2005. My mother was a boarder at Wenona and spoke very fondly of her years there, and had kept friendships that were formed at Wenona all her life. I think she may have been one of Miss Ralston's favourites, as I too attended Wenona and Miss Ralston often spoke of my mother to me and said what a wonderful student she was, not like me! I have quite a collection of photos from Mum's days there, and if you would like any please let me know. I would appreciate it Mum's passing could be mentioned in the next Wenona Review. My maiden name was Fiona Ireland and I left Wenona in 1969.
"We apologise to Helen Wotton - notice of her death was premature. Helen has just enjoyed her 80th birthday and is very well."
Elaine Bennett (nee Hooke 1958). 2 April 2006. Late of Dingadee, Dungog. Aged 64 years. Elaine’s daughter Mary wrote to us that Elaine was a relative of Miss Edith Hooke’s family. They lived on the property which has been in the Hooke family for seven generations.
Betty Isobel Mutch (Horton 1946) of Dural, suddenly but peacefully on 10 January 2006 after a short illness. Her son John said that she was always extremely enthusiastic regarding her association with and education at Wenona.
It is with great sadness I report on the death of Rosemary Dicker (nee Carter) Leaving Year of 1971. Rosemary died on 12th May 2006 after a courageous two year battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Bill, sons William and Edward, daughter in law Veronica and granddaughters Kaylin, Indi and Lianna. At school Ro, a boarder from Barraba, was a star sprinter and was placed in the honours list in the HSC for ancient history.
